The Flight to Montreal

Yesterday was was launch day!  Veronica (forever known as Ronnie) and I headed to the airport and right before we picked up Ronnie to head to the airport she called to let me know that the flight had been delayed.

We were supposed to depart at 5:05 pm but only took off at around 7:30 pm.  That wasn’t too bad.  BUT, while we were waiting at gate “P” as instructed via our boarding tickets Ronnie realized that for whatever reason our actual gate letter had been changed to “S” but NO ONE told us!  Sheesh.   So then finally we are waiting at the right gate and Ronnie with her sly words managed to get both of us seats beside each other.  Thank was nice of the attendant and we courteously thanked him for it!

So we fly.  All is good, we watch “ghost town” or something like that.  It was with Ricky Gervais, you know the one.  Any who, we land and all is well.  We taxi the runway onto a waiting area because all the terminals are full of other planes and we have to wait our turn.  So we wait.  And wait.  And wait. For an hour, sitting in the hot, cramped small airplane.

We finally get off!  We head towards the luggage where we wait for ohhhh, about another hour as our luggage doesn’t come.  Then I noticed that on another luggage line and isn’t marked with our flight number that some luggage is coming through.  Sure enough, our luggage had been going around the luggage belt on a totally different line and the one we were looking on was only for a Vancouver flight (but it was marked for Winnipeg and Vancouver).  As we grab our stuff and head for a taxi the annoucement comes on that our luggage (Winnipeg flight) is on the other belt after we already found it.  Thanks guy, appreciate the help.

At this point Ronnie and I are in a pissy mood because we were soo excited to get to Montreal but with all the rollercoaster emotions of having to wait I left us a bit exhausted.  We get to our hostel, which by the way is fantastic and head to bed.  Snoring on an epic level occurs from what I think is a mountain lion in my dorm room, head phones on and iTouch full blast I head to bed.

All in all the sleep was really good.  We just had an afternoon of exploration and Montreal is SOOOO amazing.  I am in love with this city.  I can’t show you pictures until I get back but I promise you this city is amazing.  Its amazingness makes up for what is a typical flight with good ol’ Air Canada.

But, I don’t want this to be a downer, Montreal is so beautiful.  We had breakfast at this amazing Crepery and it was divine.  I have never had a crepe so big and so delicious.  The people are incredibly helpful, sweet, lovely, and they all can speak english which is a bonus for us.

Goodbye for now!

Bowling before Christmas

Hello world!  This is my LAST post of the year!  Wow, what a year it has been.  Thank you to everyone who has been an inspiration, support, and just all around awesome. (You know who you are).  I’m leaving for Montreal in less than 5 hours!  Woot!  Love you all!

On Sunday the family got together and we went bowling, unfortunately not everyone could make it out but the important people did at least :P  This was my going away for Christmas party/ my Mom’s belated birthday party.  Well to  surprise my Dad was the bowling “King” if you will but we managed to de-thrown him in the second game.  Tyler happened to be a low scorer in the early rounds but always managed to come up closer to the end.  Mom was consistent  and had a decent score and my sister, Doris, managed to steal the game with a double strike on the LAST round.  I did fairly well with a 3rd and a 2nd place.

Tyler bowling.

Tyler was my secret santa this year and handed me this AWESOME “The Office Dvd Board Game”  Thanks Tyler!

We THINK this is Tyler rockin’ out, but he might have just been bowling.

I think this is the exact same thing Darth Sidious from Star Wars does to Luke in Episode 5.

Mom liked to throw the ball in the air, make a loud banging sound and nearly break the bowling lane, only then could she bowl :)

Christmas plans

Sorry I haven’t blogged in a while but I assure you I have been busy!  If you haven’t added me on facebook as a friend then, get on it ☺ If you are a facebook friend then this won’t come to you as big of a surprise.  So, this Christmas I have decided to take a little “hiatus” to Montreal rather than do the typical Christmas.  For those of you who know me, it would come to no real surprise that I am doing something like this because I am known to, well, let’s just say I’m not a fan of tradition.

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Christmas, but the way I see it is that if I live a normal life expectancy, I will have many Christmases to come ☺  I’m kind of a rebel that way, not par-taking in the regular family traditions, and I’m sure I will miss them because I LOVE my family dearly, but along with the commercialization and the same old same old, I have opted for a “different” kind of Christmas.

I like change. I like mixing up the ordinary and making it unique.  In this case, I’m calling a time-out!  Reactions have been…interesting to say the least.  Some people think it’s a really great idea but MOST think I’m crazy, and that craziness confirms more so that this is the right thing to do.  Break away from the social norms!  Who says Christmas has to be about opening presents?  Who says it has to be about eating your aunt’s genuinely dreadful spinach salad?  Not me!

Don’t worry; I have a partner in crime.  My good friend Ronnie will be accompanying me to Montreal for our 9 day Tour de Montreal.  Instead of opening presents under the fireplace, we will be learning about the city, the way of “The French” and their hospitality.  Taking it the aura of Christmas cheer all along the way.  Christmas this year will be about getting to know my country.  Getting to know a city that I have been dying to see for years.  This year Christmas will be about loving not just my family, but falling in love with Canada.  Yeah yeah that was cheesy but I don’t care.  I’ve been to the west,  from Saskachewan to B.C., now its time to head east!

So enough about this rant.  I wish everyone a truly, most genuine Christmas and let it be filled with what Christmas is really about, love.  Give your special someone a great big hug and a smile, enjoy the company around you, and God bless.

Five days and counting!

P.s. Where are some good places to go in Montreal?

Oh My GAWD!

Holy crap! I’ve always said and I stand by this; a person’s computer abilities and skill in my eyes, are determined by how many short-cut keys they know. Because of this, I am always looking for new and shorter ways to do things on my computer and the interweb. This one has been driving me NUTS! Ok, so you know when you click incessantly on your address bar trying to highlight the whole URL? YEAH! I KNOW! And it NEVER highlights, or it highlights only a word. This has been driving me nuts for YEARS. Are you ready for this? Are you? F6.

Today, I am a smarter man.

The Day After

haha, I’m laughing as I write this.  I just finished watching this hilarious video of this woman who made a video from actual wedding discussion boards.  Her focus was “after the wedding”.  Hope you enjoy!  Thanks Anne!

The First Christmas Party

I just attended the first Christmas party of the year for me yesterday.  My good friend Sherb, invited the gang over for some wii and junk food.  Sherb makes the BEST cupcakes I’ve ever eating (i have yet to go to the Cup Cakery), and I was rockin’ out on Guitar hero for a while.  It was a nice quiet party and ended with some Game Cube, yes, we played some Game Cube.  Anyways, here are some pics!

p.s.  Sherb is the one attacking my camera :)

Chris and Cathy

WOW!  Was it ever cold today!  I’m pretty sure it was -47 C or something like that :P  Luckily my good friends Chris and Cathy were up to the challenge.  Chris had called me up last week looking for some pictures for Christmas, and I was happy to do so (this is before I knew the weather!).  Chris is an old friend from the photography school days.  Its always a little more nerving when a fellow photographer asks you to do their pictures, but I think I managed :)  We ended up having lots of great shots and despite the cold, they look warm and cozy!

The NEW BLOG!

Welcome and Welcome back!  So this is my new blog!  There will be updates made all the time to make this blogs awesomeness even more awesome!

One of the things that bothered me about my last blog design was its lack of BIG PICTURES, so I’ve gone and added that feature!  Another addition is an easier way of reading and commenting on comments!  I hope you enjoy my blogs deliciousness as much as I do!  SOOOOO, what do you think? (p.s. these are photos of my cousin Toby’s former bike.  He sold it and moved on to bigger and faster things, but I still love the photos!)

New Blog Design!

Hey everyone, I have some VERY exciting news for you all!  I am re-vamping my blog…yet again!  Don’t worry, I’m just changing the “look” of my blog.  Everything else will remain the same.  I think you’ll really enjoy it, cause I know I WILL!  YAY!!!

Changes coming soon!

Star Wars, The Sean and the shameless plug

Alphabet Soup

Natasha Boone

So yesterday I took the day off and went over to my good friend Sean’s place where we had decided that we would watch ALL 6 of the Star Wars movies…in order.  Sean, who is on holidays this week, and is also a part of the super awesome childrens entertainment band called Alphabet Soup had nothing planned for his Tuesday so we decided this would be the best use of our time.  Natasha, another good friend of mine, who happens to be married to Sean and who also happens to be an amazing artist (shameless plug), was kind enough to let us partially destroy the basement with an assortment of junk food and the occasional water on the carpet spillage.

Natasha also makes a mean Shepard’s pie and a seriously delicious salad, mmm.  So, on to the movies!  We started at 12pm and ended at 12am.  Unfortunately, SEAN! wasn’t up to the task of completing all 6 movies, but we did manage to get through 5 of them!  The first movie “Phantom Menace” was good until Jar Jar Binks started talking (sigh, he ruins that movie).  The second was way better, and the third movie is AMAZING, and my personal favourite!  Revenge of the Sith has all these super crazy awesome fight scenes and when Natalie Portman says “Anakin, you’re breaking my heart” that gets me everytime!  Then onto the classics, with Harrison Ford and his one liners, Darth Vader all bad ass, and you can’t forget the DEATH STAR!  We managed to end the night only having gained a few extra pounds, and getting up the stairs was a bit of a challenge, but we survived!

Sean and I will finish the sixth movie sometime this week…hopefully.  Overall, this has been one of the best Tuesdays I have ever had.  Anyone up for a Lord of the Rings marathon?
